In his homily, Archbishop Benny emphasized on the importance and purpose of the church building giving the example of “The Lost Son (Luke 15:11–32)”, he said, “Today we are all sitting in our father’s house. We heard how the son took his share of wealth from his father and was living in sin, he missed his father’s house. Today we also need to remember that this beautiful place which was built with some thought, for some purpose, is the Father’s House. We receive forgiveness, love and mercy from this House and that is why we have to remember our God’s name”.
“The youngest son commits a sin and the eldest is righteous, he walks in the words of the Bible, however did not act on them. But if we talk about the love of the father, he accepted both his sons in all circumstances”, he added.
“The three characteristics of the father that we should always remember, he is patient, merciful and forgiving. If we stay united; together as a family, we could be successful. The youngest son did according to his own will, committed sins and turned away from his father, but, as soon as his father sees him coming from afar, he goes to him and forgives him. The father showed mercy to his son, forgave him and accepted him. This is the love that we should learn and adopt in our daily lives”, he concluded.
After the consecration ceremony of the church, Fr. Anthony Abraz thanked the Archbishop for accepting the invitation for blessing the church. He also thanked all the faithful for their monetary contribution towards the building of this church.
